How accurate is it?

Gurmukhi records every sound, so this direction works well. Words borrowed from Arabic and Persian may come out with a simpler spelling than the traditional one, except for common words the converter knows.
Shahmukhi → Gurmukhi: a rough guide
Shahmukhi leaves out short vowels and uses و and ی for several sounds, so the converter has to guess. Expect missing short vowels and some wrong long vowels. Text written with vowel marks converts much better.
This is a rule-based converter with a small word list. It is meant to help you read, and its output should be checked by a reader of the target script before it is published.
